Talking on Valley Public Radio

Yesterday I was a guest on Quality of Life, a show hosted by Terry Philips on Valley Public Radio (NPR in Fresno, California).  The show was described as follows at the KVPR website:

Today’s program takes a close look at the impact that a professional sports franchise can have on a city. Terry Philips welcomes Chris Cummings, the Managing Partner of the Fresno Grizzlies and David Berri, an Economics Professor formerly at California State University Bakersfield and now at Southern Utah University, who is a co-author of “The Wages of Wins: Taking the Measure of the Many Myths in Modern Sport.” It is a fascinating look into the world of sports.

In essence we were discussing the economic impact of sports on a local economy (as well as discussing The Wages of Wins).  One point I made is that the economic impact of sports might depend on the size of the community (or academic institution) hosting the sporting event.  If you care to listen to what we had to say, please click on the link at the Quality of Life website (FYI: I came on for the second half of the show).
