While some teams are looking at this year’s free agent market to rebuild their franchises, the Washington Wizards are taking a different approach. In the past week, the Wizards have drafted John Wall, acquired Kirk Hinrich, and now traded for Yi Jianlian. The results…
well, not impressive. At least, that is the story told by Rob O’Malley in the following two posts:
Wizards Acquiring “Assets” – Trade For Yi
I was going to say more but…
- I just got into Portland for the Western Economic Association meetings and I am tired (and we have quite a bit to do over the next few days).
- Rob clearly has this covered.
I will try and get more stuff posted tomorrow (really, I will try).

P.S. By the way… did Rob change the look of his blog again?

Haha, I did. I just didn’t like how dark the last one was. It doesn’t work well for reading, at least not to me. I like this layout though so I will probably be sticking with it for a while. But my attention span isn’t great (unless I’m focusing on sports), so I can’t guarantee anything.
I wouldn’t normally be pumping out posts like this but the Wizards are wheeling and dealing.

Grunfeld has got to go. Now, I’m not sure if the Yi contract is bad but the player certainly is. Grunfeld has now accumulated a team with 2 players(assuming Heinrich is actually coming to DC)who have had an above average season.
What the hell is this guy doing?

Grunfeld has been GM for six seasons. The teams best record during that time is 45 wins. That was his first season where the team was mostly in place when he walked in. Since he has been making the decisions the wins have decreased every season. I hear Kevin Pritchard is available.

Kevin Pritchard plus Ted Leonsis. Now that’s a team I get behind.
Now, for my next rant about a sorry team. Why did the Twolves draft Love 4th overall just to never play him?

Mar & Rob,
I don’t know about Pritchard to the Wiz. The Nets 86 their GM at about the time he got fired seems fishy to me. The Russian Billionaire who transformed CKSA and the Betrayed GM seem more likely to me (and ridiculously scary for the rest of the league).

Rob,
FWIW, I really like the previous look of your blog. It’s yours, of course, so do what feels more comfortable, and I’m not critiquing the current look. But when I visited your blog the first time, the thing that stuck out was the look. I really liked it.
Content is great, too :)

Ben,
I really liked the look of it too. But I felt it was too dark and the font was too small. It looked artsy and nice but it reminded me more of an online diary. The new one looks more like a column that I’m writing. It looks more professional. I’d say it looks more legitimate. A little too legitimate. It might become too legit to quit.

MC Hammer for the win! It’s a great blog, Rob. The new looks is more like a column and professional.
