Two of the previous posts I wrote about the Eurobasket were about the MVP, but now I’d like to take a quick look at some team stats:

Awesome post Devin. No explanation to Bargnani finally playing well?

Well, I’m working on a brief review of his performance (and that of other players who have Raptor connections) that I’ll be posting over at NBeh?, and then I’ll be doing a list of all the other players with NBA connections that I’ll be posting here when it’s ready.
The brief story with Bargnani is this: his shooting was more efficient and his rebounding was better. Because he took so many shots, this increase in shooting efficiency had a decent effect on his numbers. Because his rebounding is normally so poor, the improvement in rebounding was also quite influencial.

I’d say the easy explanation is Eurobasket<NBA

Not completely – there were some NBA players who played much worse than they normally do in the NBA (Turkoglu, Noah, Pachulia, Galinari, Ilyasova, etc). Then there were several players who played at mostly the same level (Marc Gasol, Deng, Ibaka, Diaw, etc). And then there were a few players who played significantly better (Bargnani, Belinelli, Pau Gasol, Chris Kaman, etc). The lower level of competition helped in some cases, I’m sure, but it’s not the only explanation.
